In life we always arise to fears that prevent us from gaining success. These worries may come in any size, shape or colour simply depending on the experiences we’ve had.
Now to prosper in life we must overcome these obstacles, and learn how to deal with them. Follow these tips to find your way.
First you should properly analyze your fear, ask yourself questions like: Is it harmful in anyway? What’s so scary about it? Is it commonly feared? Etc. This will help you feel more in control and confident towards facing your fear(s). Researching your fear and gaining more information about it can help you see the logic of it as well.
Take it slow. Facing too much of your fear at once can scar you for good and you might never want to face it again. For example if you are scared of water you can at first try splashing your feet around in the tub, try sitting in water and then eventually dipping your face in water. When you feel quite comfortable with these steps, you can try laying in a bath or a small inflatable pool.
But then next you must realize that you can’t keep on taking baby steps when facing your fear(s). At one point you must face your fear directly. Taking the water phobia for example, you can begin by taking it little by little until you are quite comfortable with water but then to completely overcome your fear you must eventually face it directly. So if that means going to your local pool and jumping in, and submerging yourself in water, do it.
I understand that when it comes to facing a fear thinking positive is very hard to do but it is a very important step to facing your fear(s). Instead of thinking of all the negative, scary things, you should concentrate on the good outcomes and positives of the situation. This way you will be less scared of your fear and a step closer to succeeding.
Once in a while we all need encouragement and someone to rely on. In this case someone to face your fear with. No matter what your fear is, it is always easier to face it with someone you trust. When facing your fear you might want to take along someone that might actually be helpful, in other words, someone who isn’t scared of your fear. This is helpful because your friend will be able to encourage you, push you along and comfort you when needed. Also seeing your friend conquer your fear might give you hope and the confidence you need to dump your phobia.
Good luck in being Fearless!
