Overcoming Shyness

Overcoming Shyness

Everyone experiences shyness in their lives, at one time or another.

But there are some people who are naturally shy and are victims of chronic shyness.

People suffering from shyness think that shyness is an incurable ailment but they are wrong, it is very possible to conquer and you can completely get rid of it.

To overcome shyness:

Create a Strong Friend Base

The people you surround yourself with: your friends, classmates, work colleagues, etc. are a huge influence on you.

Try surrounding yourself with people that are positive thinkers and are confident. This will provide you with a strong support group and give you support in uncomfortable situations.

This will also be beneficial as your friends and colleagues will rub off on you and make you more confident.

Expand your Comfort Zone

In the process of overcoming shyness it is very important to slowly push yourself out of your comfort zone.

To achieve this goal try to start by taking baby steps.

For example you are a student:

  • Speak up little by little, whenever you get the chance
  • Try to be a “little” more involved while doing presentations
  • Offer your opinions to your classmates

Tip: Remember that the embarrassment of doing something wrong might last a few seconds or even a few days but if you move on and forget, it could save you from a lifetime of hiding.

Accept yourself and don’t worry

Learn to accept yourself for who you are and be who you want to be.

It doesn’t always matter what people are thinking of you, just be yourself!

Good Luck on overcoming shyness!
