How to Break Bad Habits

Who doesn’t have something  bad about themselves they wish they could change. 

Follow these steps to break your bad habit.

1. Mind over Body

What you have to do is control your body, don’t let your mind control you. Figure out what your problem is and focus on it.

2. Control Your Thoughts

Strongly tell your mind that you don’t want to do that specific thing and ignore any temptation.

3. Defeat Temptation

Whenever temptation occurs clench your fists and continually say out loud what you do not want to do. A study shows clenching your fists and saying your words out loud stimulates your senses and increases your will power.

4. Other Defences

Find other options to your bad habit - If you have a bad habit of say licking your lips you could try putting on chap stick, lip gloss, or even Vaseline.

5. Adapt

Hang in there. The first many days are the hardest but after a while your body adapts and you will get through. The main point is to distract yourself and no matter how hard it is don't give in.

6. Discuss and Reflect

Discuss with your family and friends how you can break your bad habit, this will increase your will power as your friends and family motivate you

In the majority of cases if you can stop your habit for at least 20 days you can completely break it then on. Keep trying and one day you’ll succeed.
